On July 22, the deadline for submitting applications for the XV edition of the National Crafts Awards, whose objective is to give institutional recognition to the most outstanding actions in the field of contemporary crafts.
The National Crafts Awards seek to give prestige to a sector that in Spain represents 0.4% of GDP, presenting it in an environment of quality and excellence. With them, recognition is given to those artisan companies that, preserving their essence of traditional trade, stand out for their creativity, social and environmental responsibility, adaptation to the market and capacity for innovation. Likewise, institutions and companies that have contributed significantly to promoting artisan work are rewarded.
The 92 applications received will compete in the 5 established categories: the National Craft Award, to the set of a consolidated work; the Product Award, for those products or collections made and marketed in the two years prior to the call; the Entrepreneurship Award, which recognizes the entrepreneur or entrepreneurial company that has stood out for the introduction of new concepts in the sector, as well as its ability to provide innovative solutions; and finally, the Promote Award in its two aspects, for public entities and for private entities, for institutions that contribute significantly to the promotion and enhancement of crafts.
An assessment committee made up of experts from the sector, in any of its fields (design, marketing, teaching, associations, practicing craftsmen, etc.) together with representatives of the autonomous communities, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and the EOI Foundation, has been in charge of reviewing all the proposals received and has determined the following candidacies as finalists for each category.

The winning candidates will be announced at a ceremony that is expected to take place in November.
